Aly & Chris | A Rainy Ucluelet & Tofino Wedding at Black Rock Oceanfront Resort

What a way to start the year.
Aly and Chris’s wedding in Ucluelet and Tofino was one we had been looking forward to like kids waiting for a rollercoaster. The entire weekend brought classic West Coast weather, unpredictable rain, ocean mist, and incredible energy from start to finish.
Intimate weddings always carry something special. Everything feels intentional, calm, and deeply meaningful. From our first conversation, Aly told us she hoped for rain and even dreamed of jumping into the ocean in her wedding dress. Safe to say, this wedding delivered.
The day began at Black Rock Oceanfront Resort, one of our favourite Vancouver Island wedding venues. The rain set the tone for a cozy and emotional ceremony, with guests gathered under umbrellas as waves crashed along the coastline. Almost perfectly timed, the rain stopped right after the ceremony, giving us space to explore the rugged Ucluelet landscape for portraits.
The reception felt relaxed and personal. Friends and family shared drinks, laughter, and even a few board games, creating an atmosphere that felt more like a meaningful gathering than a formal event.
The adventure didn’t end there. The following day, we met again for a bridal session along the ocean, where Aly finally brought her vision to life by running straight into the water in her wedding dress. Wild, joyful, and completely unforgettable.
We feel incredibly lucky to document weddings in Ucluelet, Tofino, and across Vancouver Island, especially celebrations like this that embrace the beauty of the West Coast exactly as it is.
If you’re planning an intimate wedding or elopement on Vancouver Island, we would love to hear your story.
