What can I even say about Erin and Dimitri’s wedding, except that it felt like stepping right into a storybook?
Their wedding planning journey was a bit of a roller coaster. It started as a huge, big wedding with all the moving pieces that come with that kind of celebration. Then, over time, it shifted into something more intimate, more personal, and honestly, perfect.
Erin had only been to one wedding before planning her own, which still makes me smile. Wedding planning is already a lot, even when you have been to dozens of them. But somehow, through all the changes and unknowns, Erin and Dimitri landed on the most magical property for their day: Shuswap Shire Hobbit House.
And seriously, what more could you ask for?

The moment we arrived at Shuswap Shire, I was in love.
This was not just a cute themed cabin or a little rustic venue with a round door added for fun. This was a true Hobbit house built right into the ground, with all the charm and whimsy you would hope for. It felt cozy, quiet, and completely unreal in the best way.
For anyone who loves fantasy, books, film, or just the feeling of being transported somewhere special, this property was a dream. It gave Erin and Dimitri’s wedding such a strong sense of place. Every corner felt intentional. Every path, doorway, and garden space looked like it was waiting for a little adventure. Their day gave us the kind of lord of the rings, Hobbit house wedding photography that feels impossible to recreate anywhere else.
The sweetest private civil ceremony before the celebration began
Before all the guests arrived, Erin and Dimitri had a quick civil ceremony in front of the Hobbit house.
It was simple, quiet, and incredibly sweet.
There is something special about those smaller moments before the bigger ceremony begins. The day is still calm. The couple gets a few breaths together before everyone surrounds them with love. For Erin and Dimitri, the Hobbit house made the perfect backdrop for that first ceremony.
The round door, the grass-covered roof, the soft garden textures, and the feeling of being tucked away from the rest of the world made it feel almost secret. Like they had found their own little corner of Middle-earth to say, “Yes, this is us.”

After the civil ceremony, the day opened up into the bigger celebration with their guests.
Their main ceremony took place in the forest, which felt like the perfect next chapter. The owner of the property had recently built an arch just for this ceremony. It was the kind of ceremony space that does not need much to feel beautiful because nature is already doing so much of the work. One of the most amazing parts of this wedding was how much the property owner helped bring the vision to life. They built a ton of perfect places for Erin and Dimitri to host their celebration, from the reception areas to the ceremony site.

What I loved most about Erin and Dimitri’s day was that it felt personal from beginning to end.
They did not stick with the original huge wedding plan just because that was the first version. They let the day change. They made space for something more intimate, less chaotic. They chose a property that reflected their love of story, magic, and adventure.
The result was a wedding that people will remember.
Not because it was perfectly them. It had movement, character, humour (The Mr. Potato head!), and heart. It had a Hobbit house, a forest ceremony, a garden to explore, and guests who showed up ready to celebrate in full fantasy spirit.
This is exactly why I love wedding photography. They can be moody, wild and choasticor clam and quiet. It's really up to you. The best wedding days are not always the biggest or the most traditional. They are the ones where the couple gives themselves permission to make choices that feel honest.
