Katie & Liam’s Rowena’s Inn on the River Wedding
There are some wedding venues where you immediately understand why couples fall in love with them.
Rowena’s Inn on the River is one of those places.
Rowena’s Inn on the River is one of those venues that already feels special before the wedding even starts. You have the character of the English-style manor, huge old trees, gardens, mountains in the distance and the Harrison River running alongside the property. Sandpiper Resort
For Katie and Liam, it became the backdrop to a wedding that felt romantic and elegant with mountains in the background.
A Wedding at Rowena’s Inn on the River
One of our favourite things about photographing weddings at Rowena’s Inn is how many completely different environments exist within one property.
Katie and Liam were able to spend the day surrounded by their family and friends without needing to constantly travel somewhere else for photographs.
Their ceremony took place outside beneath one of the enormous trees on the property, with the landscape stretching out behind everyone.
It was already a beautiful setting, but what we remember most were all the reactions happening underneath it.
Liam trying to hold it together.
Katie laughing through parts of the ceremony.
Family members wiping away tears.
The flower girls reactions.
Those are always the photographs we find ourselves looking for — the little moments happening around the obvious one.
Wedding Photos Around Rowena’s Inn
After the ceremony, we wandered around the grounds with Katie and Liam rather than turning their portrait time into a huge production.
And Rowena’s gives you a lot to work with.
There are manicured gardens around the inn, huge trees, the waterfront, open fields and views toward the mountains. The property is part of Sandpiper Resort, which sits along the Harrison River in the Fraser Valley. Sandpiper Resort
Some of our favourite images from the entire wedding are actually the simplest ones.
A tiny Katie and Liam separated by this massive tree.
The two of them laughing together on the steps outside the inn.
Nothing overly posed.
Just giving them a little direction when they needed it and letting everything else happen.
That balance is a huge part of how we photograph weddings: documentary photography with enough guidance that you never have to wonder what to do with your hands.
Why We Love Photographing Weddings at Rowena’s Inn
Rowena’s Inn on the River works so well for weddings because it manages to feel elegant without feeling like a ballroom wedding.
You get the character of an old manor, but you're surrounded by the kind of mountains, forests and waterfront scenery that feels unmistakably British Columbia.
Sandpiper currently offers weddings throughout the property, including celebrations inside Rowena’s Inn as well as outdoor settings by the river, forest and grounds. Sandpiper Resort
