There's Something magical about small intimate weddings. The kind where only your closest people get to wittiness one of your most important day, where the day feels unrushed, and every moment is fully yours. At the end of August, I had the absolute honor of photographing Leo and Grace's wedding tucked away in the forest of Pacific Spirit Park near UBC.
The day started with a bit of uncertainty. Vancouver weather loves to keep us on our toes, and after heavy morning rain. We weren't sure if the skies would hold for the ceremony. But sometimes, the unpredictability adds to the charm. By the time we made our way to the park, it felt like the rain had cleared just for these two.
Since Karla and I are close friends with Leo and Grace, the day started on a personal note. We went to pick up Grace and helped her finish getting ready. Let me just say: I love, love, love how she styled her outfit. Every detail felt true to who she is, effortlessly tying into the earthy, moody aesthetic they envisioned for their day.
Pacific Spirit park gave us the perfect backdrop. The sun made an appearance and filtered through the trees in that cinematic way that makes everything feel a little more perfect. From their first look to their portraits, Leo and Grace radiated joy. They were adorable together, it was such a privilege to capture that connection.
Their ceremony was exactly what I expected from them: heartfelt, intentional, and beautifully simple. With just a handful of close family and friends gathered around. No pressure, no rushing, just two people promising forever in the most authentic way possible. Adding a special touch with the handfasting to really tie the knot together.
I’m beyond stoked to share this story through images. These are the kind of weddings that remind me why I love what I do—moody light, raw emotions, and couples who aren’t afraid to make their day completely their own.
Leo and Grace, thank you for letting me be part of such a special day
